School-Based Health Clinics Featured in Colorado Trust Story

The COVID-19 crisis has created a new reality for School-Based Health Clinics across the state. These changes are highlighted in the new article «What Happens to School-Based Health Clinics When Schools Close?» published by The Colorado Trust. The article discusses how these clinics are coping with the pandemic and continuing to serve students in need. This discussion features our Fort Collins School-Based Health Clinic, The Health and Wellness Center at Centennial High School, as well as the mobile health center located outside of Lincoln Middle School. During these uncertain times, our School-Based Health Clinics are continuing to offer essential physical and mental health resources via telehealth. In the article, Director of the Health and Wellness Center Merry Hummell emphasizes the importance of maintaining relationships with students and providing them with ongoing support.

As Hummell explains in the article, “Folks who are different in any way, shape or form, when they find a connection to someone who cares about them individually and knows what the struggles are, the continuity of being able to work with that individual makes an enormous difference.”
