There are many questions about COVID 19 and we are closely monitoring developments from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). So far, there are no confirmed cases in Colorado. You can find updates, facts, and resources about COVID 19 from CDPHE here.

CDPHE recommends the following steps:

  • Clean hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Get an annual flu vaccine if you have not had one.

Other guidance includes not touching your face and keeping surfaces clean.

We are advising anyone who has a fever, cough or cold symptoms to wear a mask so that they can keep other people from getting infected. Health care workers also need access to masks to protect them while caring for sick patients. The US Surgeon General is urging the public not to buy masks for general use. Here is a news story about the Surgeon General’s guidance.

We encourage all children to be vaccinated for the flu and other vaccine-preventable diseases. This is the most effective way to protect your children from harmful diseases. Call us at 303-450-3690 to make an appointment for vaccinations. So far this season, three children have died from flu and almost 2,800 children have been hospitalized due to the flu. Read more about the current flu facts in Colorado here.

On a final note, we want to thank all of the organizations that have been working to improve vaccination rates in Colorado, which are dangerously low. Today, the Colorado Legislature passed Senate Bill 163, a common sense policy to help improve vaccination rates. Learn more about the bill here.
