For Pediatrician Brian Guthrie, caring for children is more than a career. It’s a lifelong commitment and passion.
Dr. Guthrie began his career in California, where he completed his undergraduate degree, medical education and residency at University of California, Davis in Sacramento. During his residency, he cared for pediatric patients at Kaiser Permanente and went on to work at their Fresno practice for over 30 years.
Following his retirement, Dr. Guthrie and his wife relocated to Colorado, a place they had always dreamed of moving to. Once settled into his new home in Arvada, Dr. Guthrie came across a feature about Every Child Pediatrics in the Denver Post. He knew this would be a perfect opportunity to share his experience and stay active in the pediatric field. This month marks the year anniversary since he began volunteering at Every Child Pediatrics. He sees patients in the Denver and Thornton offices 3-4 days per month.
“The thing I like most about pediatrics is that there isn’t a day that goes by where a child doesn’t make me laugh,” said Dr. Guthrie. “It’s fun to do something serious and meaningful but not in a serious tone.”
Along with providing direct care to patients, Dr. Guthrie appreciates the welcoming environment at Every Child Pediatrics. He enjoys collaborating with the medical staff and sharing his knowledge.
“It is so much fun to be able to interact with the kids and share what I’ve learned over all these years,” Dr. Guthrie said.
In addition to providing care at Every Child Pediatrics, Dr. Guthrie is also spreading his knowledge and experience across the world. He’s currently participating in a medical mission to Uganda, where he volunteers in a medical clinic and helps with healthcare outreach efforts in the community.
In the future, Dr. Guthrie plans to join additional medical missions and continue making a difference in people’s lives, whether that be at Every Child Pediatrics or on the other side of the world.
